Ten Things of Thankful (TToT)

Ten Things of Thankful (TToT)

Last week, The Considerer, author of Considerings | Life in Silver Linings | Deep Thinking, Truth-telling, and Actively Seeking the Good in Life at summat2thinkon.wordpress.com, invited me to join her and her grateful blog hopping group: Ten Things of Thankful (TToT). I did join their Facebook group, and wrote up a quick and easy list of TToT.

My Ten Things of Thankful:

  1. Love = God = Love
  2. My husband, whose love I greatly appreciate
  3. My teen son, who I love greatly (whether or not he appreciates it)
  4. Our two rambunctious, overly excitable dogs
  5. My growing circle of friends
  6. Support of fellow bloggers
  7. Membership in supportive Facebook communities: Ten Things of Thankful, Inspiring Women Bloggers, O.C. Writers, and #MHBlogs Group
  8. Nature
  9. Excellent medical care
  10. Excellent psychiatric care

Gratitude is good for the heart, good for the soul, and good for the mind. What better way to cognitively restructure your brain? Be thankful, consciously, determinedly, regularly. Exercise thankfulness as a discipline. Please do hop onto TToT at:

Hey Kitt! It’s really inspiring, knowing a little more about your background, to see what an awesome support system you have starting from God down to your excitable dogs. 🙂 Thanks for sharing. 🙂

Dear Kitt, Gratitude is one key to happiness. Thanks so much for sharing this. Right now, I am so grateful for the birds chirping outside my window – yes, even in NYC! xox, Reba

I love this. I started a positives and gratitude list several years ago and it has changed how I think and feel. I write three positive things about myself/life and three things I’m grateful for.

I’m so glad that focusing on positives and exercising gratitude has been helpful for you. We can so easily focus only on the negative and forget what is going well in our lives. We needn’t deny the negatives, just remember balance and acknowledge the good.

You are right. I would argue that number 9 should be at the top of the list. Love = God. God = Love. In fact, I’m going to revise the post right now.

I liked your list. It’s not meant to be a pressurised thing – it’s very much a join in as and when you feel like it, thing. And as you get to know our community, you’ll know that all the rules, up to and including ‘list’, ‘ten’, ‘things’, and sometimes even ‘thankful’ are all rather mutable concepts. 🙂

That’s certainly the vibe I got from your TToT Facebook group as well as from your writing style which can be quite witty and irreverent. The pressure is no doubt internal and based on a deeply seated desire to excel and to be a good girl worthy of love and praise. In other words, I have some baggage I’m still hanging onto after all these many years of therapy. I see obligations everywhere, whether or not they exist.

I’m glad you got that vibe. Listen to it 🙂 Baggage sucks – we all have it, but here, I’m telling you, it’s cool 🙂

You don’t have to revise, just remember – you don’t owe anything 🙂 It’s never an obligation.

I revise. Part of my process. Write and rewrite. Probably why I’m not nearly as prolific as many other bloggers. Most of my recent writing has been in the form of comments and replies, Facebook posts, and the like.

Oh! See, now I can rarely be bothered with that. I struggle to edit – it’s one of the things I am absolutely WORST at. Once published I go back and check the formatting and that’s it!

Well, you write quite well so apparently you have little need to revise.

This is terrific. It is wonderful to remind people to slow down, take a deep breath and reflect on what they are thankful for. To this end I offer my own list of ten.
    1. My good health.
    2. The health of my family.
    3. The love of my husband.
    4. The love of my three children.
    6. Happy times with my family and friends.
    7. The loving support of all of my friends (both local and distance).
    8. My education
    9. The ability to help people to achieve their dream of health, love and happiness.
    10. The people in my life who help me to achieve my dreams.
